slow motion is sort of a random song that came together in a couple hours start to finish. i thought of the idea in the shower one morning. (which is weird bc usually I’m a night time shower person because i don’t like going to bed gross) but by the time i got out of the shower i had the whole thing in my head. lyrics, melodies, structure. which has never happened to me before where i just hear the entire song before I’ve written anything down or recorded it. i knew i couldn’t get out of the shower until i had it all fleshed out because id get distracted by something and then lose the idea. and then i ran out of the shower in my towel and went straight downstairs to start working on it. just recording some piano dripping wet in my towel.

also i feel the need to say i skipped the next two days of showering because of how much water i used on that one.

anyways, the song is just a flow of thoughts that i was having in that moment. first of which was that my days were going by really slowly. i know im getting better at music but its hard for me to feel or recognize that on certain days. feeling like im the same i was the day before or even the week before because my perspective is zoomed in. and then from there i started thinking about how i would love to be able to show my grandmother some of the songs im working on now. she died in 2020 and i think the last time i showed her any music was in 2019. and it was hilarious because i brought my laptop and my studio headphones and put them on her and played a couple songs. and i dont know if she connected that i had recorded everything she was hearing but she still smiled and at least pretended like she enjoyed them. and then there’s a lyric that says “she showed us the power of music”
